The 26th Nordic conference on research on tourism and hospitality was held in Falun, Sweden, on October 4th - 6th. The conference theme was "Tourism in a Hyper-Connected World: Challenges of Interactivity and Connectedness".
One of the conference seminars concentrated on event management, seemingly a growing research field for instance in Scandinavia. Here, Ingibjörg Sigurðardóttir, lecturer in HUC's Department of Tourism, gave a presentation titled Hosting the national competition of the Icelandic horse: The experience of local inhabitants in 2016.
During the same trip, Ingibjörg visited Dalarna University's second campus at Borlänge where she gave an open presentation on the development of the tourism industry in Iceland. She also used the opportunity to meet with two of the department's Landsmót research partners, who both work at DU.
The next Nordic conference on research on tourism and hospitality will be held in Bodø in Norway, in the autumn of 2018.
