Research and Teaching in Tourism and Hospitality Management at Hólar University College
The Department of Rural Tourism at Hólar University College invites applications for a full tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in Tourism and Hospitality Management. We are looking for an applicant with knowledge and experience in the discipline, to build up research and teaching in the field within the Department. The post will be situated on site at Hólar North Iceland.
The Department of Rural Tourism at Hólar University College offers undergraduate programs in Tourism Studies and Tourism and Hospitality Management, A Master’s program in Tourism Studies, and Diploma studies in Event Management. All programs are offered as distance learning programs, with on-campus sessions in Hólar. The Department puts emphasis on research in the fields of rural tourism, event management, and tourism and hospitality management. The position entails:
• research in the field of tourism and hospitality management, with emphasis on rural tourism
• development of the relevant program of study
• teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses (modules)
• participation in international collaboration including research projects
• PhD in Tourism and Hospitality Management or a related field
• experience in research the area of tourism and hospitality management or related fields
• strong communication and interpersonal skills
• responsibility, initiative, independency and planning skills
The evaluation of academic merits will be in accordance with the Act on Public Universities No. 84/2008 and regulations on recruitment and promotion of academic staff at Hólar University College. Salary is in accordance with the current collective wage and salary agreement between the relevant union, and the Minister of Finance. Otherwise, rights and obligations follow the Act 70/1996 on the Rights and Obligations of Civil Servants.
