Dr Stefán Óli Steingrímsson has been promoted to professorship, in the Department of Aquaculture & Fish Biology.
Stefán Óli has now been working at Hólar University College since 2003 but in 1993 - 1997 he worked for Hólaskóli on and off.
Stefán Óli graduated with a Ph.D. from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, in 2004, after having graduated with an M.Sc. from the same institution in 1996. He received his B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Iceland in 1992.
Stefán Óli has taught in all departments at HUC, as well as at other public universities in Iceland. His teaching focus is on ecology and Icelandic nature, as well as on the environmental aspects of aquaculture. Furthermore he teaches methodology, in research and in university studies in general. He also supervises postgraduates students in their research; currently one doctoral and two masters students.
His research focus has been on the ecology of salmonids in freshwater (streamwater). Further information on his research is available online - click here.
